Moncada Rangel

Francesco Moncada and Mafalda Rangel, the founders of Moncada Rangel, are the directors of the architecture program at the MADE Program and co-curators of the MADE LABS summer educational program alongside Formafantasma.

Moncada Rangel is a creative agency that aims to redefine the boundaries and ambiguities distinguishing inside and outside, informality and form, authenticity and globalization, the brutal and the delicate, the designed and the accidental, the original and the copied, the unique and the standard, the traditional and the critical. Trained as architects, after working and living in various countries such as Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Dubai, and Sweden, they founded their practice in Rotterdam in 2012 before relocating to Syracuse, Sicily. They believe that everything is architecture and that architecture, in its richness of meaning, is without scale. They think design can contribute to creating a better world. They work with essential forms and structures that can generate objects, spaces, and environments to frame the complexity of life. Their projects have been featured in various magazines, including Wallpaper*, Elle Decor, Frame, Wired, Living, Interni, Domus, and Dwell, and have been showcased at the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
