Alessio Francesco Palmieri-Marinoni

Alessio Francesco Palmieri-Marinoni is a professor of Costume and Fashion History at the MADE Program, Academy of Fine Arts in Syracuse.

He is a historian of costume, fashion, theatrical costume, and the performing arts. Graduated in Philosophy of History and History of Costume and Fashion, with a specialization in Costume History, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Theatrical Costume History at the University of Sussex (UK). His research focuses on the relationship between historical authenticity, historicism, and theatrical costume in musical theater and Wagnerian opera. He regularly participates in international conferences on costume and theatrical costume history and also serves as a consultant for national and international exhibitions and museums. He collaborates with the Master's program in Museology, Museography, and Cultural Heritage Management at the Catholic University of Milan and teaches at the School of Theater Design at the Politecnico di Milano, Accademia Cappiello in Florence, IED Milan, and the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio in Florence. Since 2017, he has been the Scientific Coordinator of the Permanent Commission of Costumes for the Palio di Legnano. He has authored works for Art & Dossier, Giunti, Silvana Editoriale, Carocci, and Àncora.

He is a member of ICOM Italy, the ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Costume, Fashion, and Textiles, and the ICOM International Committee for Museums and Collections of Arms and Military History.
