MEMORIES
The in-depth study of the ancient craft of tinsmithing led to the design of common seating for public parks, with the aim of including them in the Paulownia Tormentosa garden that will be created for the Magnisi Peninsula. The seats are dedicated to the memory of each person who passed away due to diseases attributable to the pollution of the territory located in the municipality of Priolo Gargallo.
AWAKEN
Since ancient times, the Magnisi Peninsula has been an active seaport for exchanges of every culture and genre. Unfortunately, the place is characterized by the presence of pyrite ash in the subsoil, a highly toxic industrial waste substance, which has made it impossible to access this entire territory, also involving the archaeological park of Thapsos. Numerous attempts to reclaim the area have failed due to the difficulties in disposing of the toxic substances present in the soil. The thesis project proposes the reclamation of the Magnisi peninsula through the creation of a Paulownia Tomentosa garden which, thanks to the phytoremediation technique, will activate a process of self-reclamation of the soil, making the pyrite ash present in the subsoil totally harmless.
