Antonio Aricò

Antonio Aricò is an Italian artist, designer and creative director. After a double degree at the Politecnico di Milano, he earned his master's degree with a thesis on Design & Tradition, bringing together art, craft and design. These themes, merged with the poetics of contemporary culture, shape his interdisciplinary practice today: he is known as a forerunner of an approach that sets crafts and self-production alongside industrial design.

Rooted in a humanistic environment, his work brings humanity into the technical world of design, favouring the romantic, the fantastic and the archetypal over the merely functional. Over the past ten years, together with his team and family, he has developed products and creative ideas for international companies, private collectors and cultural institutions, among them Barilla Group, Alessi, Seletti, Bitossi Ceramiche, the Triennale di Milano and Bialetti, for whom he was Art Director in 2017.

His work has been shown at the Triennale di Milano, the Holon Design Museum in Tel Aviv, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne and Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome. He is Art Director of Materia, the Independent Design Festival of Southern Italy, in his home region of Calabria. He has taught design at RMIT Melbourne and at MADE Program in Syracuse, at the invitation of Formafantasma.
