The 2025 edition of MADE LABS, curated by Salvatore Lacagnina, focused on the overarching theme IN/VISIBLE – The Elephant in the Room. The program explored the relationship between the visible and the invisible, questioning how technology, together with social and economic changes, has transformed what is brought to light or overlooked, what emerges or remains at the margins. Participants and faculty were invited to investigate these “elephants in the room,” turning neglected issues into opportunities for critical research, imagination, and vision.
The labs, organized in two six-day sessions between July 7 and 19, took place at the Accademia di Belle Arti Rosario Gagliardi in Siracusa and were conducted in English, welcoming students and professionals from around the world. Among the workshops offered were Mosaics: Back to the Future, led by Olivier Lebrun; the workshop by Robert Stadler; the lab with Jenna Kaës; and Beyond the Game — Designing & Curating Perspectives on the Future of Sport, with Nathalie Opris and Konstantin Grcic.
MADE LABS 2025 was made possible thanks to funding from the Digital Education Hubs (DEH) project, supported by the European Union under NextGenerationEU. This support enabled the labs to be accessible through dedicated scholarships and reinforced the program’s mission: to promote a more digital, inclusive, innovative, and future-oriented education.
