More than just food, bread is an object of connection—between generations, across cultures, and among communities. The exhibition La Forma del Pane by Montana State University students at MADE Academy explores bread as a symbol of connection through a sculptural installation made of bread. Bread becomes both a metaphor and a tangible object, embodying heritage and evoking narratives of home, community, and belonging.
From the wheat fields of Montana to the sun-soaked landscapes of Sicily, wheat is an element that unifies these two cultures. Every culture has its own way of making bread, and within this student group, it became a shared experience—kneaded, baked, and broken together.
The installation’s design—featuring joints, intersections, and links—echoes these themes, embodying the invisible bonds that connect us across time, place, and culture.
