SAN BERILLO
The research "San Berillo: a hurricane in a drop of city" starts from the observation of a problem: the lack of green spaces in Catania, especially in the San Berillo district. Starting from a research study on the Catania area and an analysis of the urban failure of San Berillo, I decided to create green areas in some areas of the neighborhood. After a survey of the neighborhood, which saw the involvement of the residents of San Berillo and the association that operates within it, "Trame di Quartiere", we collaborated on the creation of a collection in which the inhabitants of San Berillo played the role of designers who imagined new green areas for the city. The aim of the project is to create a garden inside the courtyard of the association, a place that can be enjoyed by all the present communities. Imagining a public intervention in a degraded context like San Berillo becomes part of a dialogue in an area of the city that has been abandoned.
