Mauro Colapicchioni

Mauro Colapicchioni is a lecturer in Photography Techniques at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Siracusa MADE Program.

Born in Rome in 1976, he graduated in Applied Sciences for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage. Following his degree, his education focused on the preservation of photography through various advanced courses at ICCD (Central Institute for Cataloging and Documentation) and by collaborating with the Biology and Environmental Controls Laboratory of ICG (Central Institute for Graphics) in Rome. From 2007 to 2018, he worked with several archives, primarily the "Ardito Desio" historical archive, where he was responsible for the preservation and organization of photographic material.

In 2009, he began collaborating with the Laboratorio Fotografico Corsetti in Rome, where he received his initial photographic training, later refining his skills at the Scuola Romana di Fotografia. Since 2011, he has worked as a freelance photographer, specializing in theatrical and musical stage photography, and more recently expanding into commercial product and interior photography. He continues to use film, ranging from large format to 35mm, capturing images around the world and building a notable street photography archive. In 2015, he completed his first substantial project, "mio padre."

Having recently relocated to Syracuse, he is now involved in the Fototeca Siracusana project, managing its darkroom and educational aspects. Inspired by his new environment, he continues to pursue projects exclusively using analog techniques.
