BALAT
The spread of the banana, which brought it to Sicily, is also the result of an era of exploitation and violation of human rights, to the detriment of plantation workers. Balat wants to tell a story: that of the social redemption of the people of South-East Asia and that of the fight against prejudices related to skin colour. The thesis project is based on the idea of reusing banana peel waste and its inclusion in the circular economy, obtaining an eco-sustainable and recyclable material, alternative to animal skin.
